Woman accused of stealing from law office

Police are charging an Emporium woman, 34-year-old Jennifer Weichman, with stealing at least $15,000 from her employer, Port Allegany attorney Harold B. Fink.

Port Allegany Borough Police are handling the investigation. Police Chief Guy Distrola confirmed that Weichman will be charged with a felony theft count, as well as separate counts of failure to make required disposition of funds and theft by deception.

Distrola said that beginning in April 2005, Weichman took the money in cash and through the payment of personal bills through the lawyer's account.

Weichman allegedly admitted to the thefts in December and began to make restitution, but then stole more money, according to police. She'll be arranged before District Judge Bill Todd in Smethport.

Fink, 80, has a private practice in Port Allegany which he started almost 20 years ago after serving as Potter County Judge. He terminated Weichman's employment effective July 1.
