Jennie Grovanz

Jennie M. Grovanz, 85, Rich Valley Road., Emporium died Friday, (July 6, 2007) at Hamot Medical Center, Erie.

She was born April 18, 1922 in Weedville, a daughter of Vito and Marietta Castiglione Bonanno.

On Aug. 21, 1948 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Force, she married Ralph A. Grovanz Sr.

Mrs. Grovanz retired from Sylvania, where she worked for more than 35 years. She was a 50-year member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren, and cooking for their Sunday get-togethers. She also enjoyed her friends and traveling.

She is survived by four daughters, Rosemary Grovanz, Joann (Dale) Miller and Rita (Art) May, all of Emporium, and Bonnie (Andy) Housler, St. Marys; a son, Ralph A. (Jody) Grovanz Jr., Emporium; 20 grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Giovanni Housler; eight brothers, Peter, Geno, Frank, Emelio, Joseph, Ernie, Leonard Bonanno and twin brother, Johnny Bonanno; and three sisters, Margaret Grano, Mildred Bonanno and Rosella Giovanini.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the St. Mark Catholic Church. Burial was in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery.
