Stella Zito Stella M. Zito, 79, of Emporium died Tuesday (July 3, 2007) at her residence. She was born May 30, 1928 in Emporium, a daughter of the late Anthony and Amilia Nicolo Zito. Miss Zito was a 1946 graduate of Emporium High School. She worked for Sylvania Electric in Emporium as a clerk in the order and billing department. After a series of job changes and promotions, she became the first female buyer in the Emporium plant and retired as purchasing agent after 43 years from what then was North American Philips. She was also the first woman to be elected to Emporium Borough Council, serving for two terms. She was also a member of the St. Mark Catholic Church. Miss Zito is survived by four sisters, Theresa Dixon, DuBois; Margaret (Ross) Anderson, Emporium; Susan Zito, Emporium, and Jean Zito, Emporium; and a niece, who she raised from infancy, Mary Jo (Erik) Van Der Kaay. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Nancy; and five brothers, Frank, Dominick, Joe, Tony and Joseph. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the St. Mark Catholic Church.
