P-M falls to Roosevelt Trail

Hopes of a Pa. District 15 Little League Baseball championship were dashed for the Potter-McKean 12-year-olds Wednesday in a tough 7-4 loss to Roosevelt Trail. P-M finished as the fourth-place team from District 15.

The previous night, Potter- McKean overcame some defensive lapses to edge Canton, 5-4, at Austin. Ricky Bova's single plated John Michael Rigas from second base with the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Bova and Rigas combined on the mound for a one-hitter, with six strikeouts and three walks. Tyce Miller made a key defensive play in the outfield as Canton was threatening in the fourth inning.

Sammy Kysor pitched a nohitter on Sunday in Mansfield, leading Potter-McKean to a 10- 0 win over Southern Tioga. Kysor issued just one walk and struck out five. He had plenty of offensive support, as Caden Whitman slammed a two-run homer and a double. Jeffery McManus, Rigas and Kevin McVay added doubles in P-M's 11-hit attack

Last Friday, Potter-McKean lost a tough 3-2 decision to Canton in a game played at Austin. Three Canton pitchers combined to strike out 13, but P-M kept things close. Rigas pitched five innings and Whitman covered the final frame for the locals.
