Austin Dam Show underway now!
Last year, volunteers built the stage from the ground up just prior to performances at the Austin Dam Show.
And while that task won't be necessary this year, volunteers are still needed for other lastminute chores. If you can help, stop by the ruins and pitch in.
Schedule of performances for the fifth annual show has been released by the Potter County Arts Council and the Austin Dam Memorial Assn.
Those planning to attend this weekend's show are encouraged to park at the Austin Area School and ride the shuttle bus, to reduce the pressure on the dirt road at the Austin Dam Memorial Park. Tickets are available at the park. Here's the schedule:
Friday, July 20 6:00 p.m.: Opening Ceremonies: John Peet, Gloria Richardson, Steve Sevinsky and Rosemary Wells. Dedication of Dam Show V to the late Dixie Ripple; reading of her poetry by daughter Laurel Ripple and a song by granddaughter Karina Valenti.
6:15 p.m.: Music of the Underground Railroad featuring local students in an Arts in Education Project led by Charles Kennedy Jr.
7:00 p.m.: Jakob's Hollow
7:45 p.m.: Dam Jam Session
8:00 p.m.: Gordon Stone Trio
8:45 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.: Spectacular Groovin' Lumens Lights on the dam behind performers.
9:30 p.m.: Blue Sky Mission Club
Saturday, July 21
2:00 p.m.: Tom Martin
2:30 p.m.: Jonathan Haley; also Storyteller Bonnie Kyofski (Children's Area)
3:15 p.m.: Drums Along Freeman Run: drum workshop by Buddhahood - free and open to public.
4:15 p.m.: Fetish Lane
5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.: Variety show with Brother Dietze and the Dixie Boys and Friends (Bonnie Kyofski, The Jacksons, drummers and more)
7:00 p.m.: The Slant
