DeStevens dies in Cleveland Eugene P. DeStevens, one of the best football players ever to compete for Coudersport High School, died Thursday, July 5, in the Cleveland Clinic. He was 77. DeStevens, as a star running back at Coudersport, earned the nickname "Swivel Hips" for his elusive running style. He attended the University of Tennessee on a full football scholarship beginning in 1949, then transferred to St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, N.Y. DeStevens served with the Army during the Korean War. He then joined Tennessee Gas in Clymer, Pa., where he was a technical operator for 36 years.
