Cameron County Fair nearing Cameron County Fair Association has announced the schedule for this year's fair. Vesper services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 5, at 7:00 p.m. Love Gospel Singing, along with Randy Simpson and the trio About Him, will sing and share their faith. Opening and dedication of the fair will be held on Monday evening, Aug. 6, at 5:30. This year's fair is being held in memory of two long-time board members, Don Williams and Sandra Lyon. Their influences continue to be seen throughout the fair and grounds. Essence of Motion Dance Studio will be performing on the stage Monday evening, as well as the local band Legacy. Also being held on Monday is the Don Williams Memorial All-American Game Show. Tuesday's entertainment will include the Lip Sync Contest and the magic and comedy of Denny Hubler. On Wednesday, Miss Cameron County, Victoria Lippert, will crown the new queen. Junior Miss and the Prince and Princess will also be named. Nuttin' Fancy DJ and Karaoke will be set up after the ceremony. Howard Mincone, the Mime to Amaze, will be strolling the grounds with juggling and tricks. Thursday will bring Glen Lucas and Family to the stage. Many contests and games are also being planned. On Friday evening, Old Skool will take the stage. Saturday morning, Aug. 11, the annual Harvey Gribble Memorial Horseshoe Tournament will be held. It offers men's and women's singles and doubles and mixed doubles brackets. Throughout the week, many organizations will be set up on the fairgrounds. The association will be highlighting emergency volunteers on Tuesday evening. Firefighters and ambulance personnel have been invited to bring their equipment and answer questions from the public. Fire companies will also compete in the Battle of the Barrel.
