Saturday on the Square event a definite keeper

Ideal weather, music, food and a special NASCAR-based audience participation event made for a successful "Saturday on the Square" in downtown Coudersport last weekend, according to the sponsors.

Stan Swank, who heads the Merchants Group for the Coudersport Area Chamber of Commerce, said the event is likely to become a summer tradition at the county seat.

Music was provided by "Confluence," a mother/daughter combo featuring lively, toetapping music. Among the vendors setting up at the court- house square were Chamber members operating the Merchants' Bargain Table. Items donated by local businesses were sold through old-fashioned bartering, with proceeds benefitting the organization's community activities fund.

Adding to the variety at the courthouse square was the Potter County Farmers Market.

The final Saturday on the Square of the season will be held on Aug. 18. Music will be provided by singer and guitarist Josh Wolf, who performed at the gazebo during the June event.
