Transportation hearings being planned

The State Transportation Commission will sponsor public hearings to assist in developing the statewide 2009 Transportation Program this fall.

Decision-makers will gather public input on projects that will shape the state's transportation infrastructure into the next decade.

Northcentral Pa. Regional Planning and Development Commission is compiling information for McKean, Elk, Cameron and Potter counties.

A meeting will be held at the Hickory VFW Post 6166 and Normandy Banquet Center in Hermitage on Aug. 30. The hearing will allow Northcentral, the Dept. of Transportation and State Transportation Commission to assess transportation priorities for the region, including for rail, highway, bridge, transit, aviation, bicycle and pedestrian.

Oral and written testimony will be accepted. Written testimony can be sent to Denise Soisson, State Transportation Commission, P.O. Box 3363, Harrisburg PA 17105-3363.

Officials said the oral testimony must be projectspecific, issue-oriented or both. Testimony is limited to five minutes.

For more information, contact Amy Keesler at the Northcentral office in Ridgway.
