Gerald Cooney Gerald L. Cooney, 73, formerly of Sinnemahoning, died Tuesday (July 24, 2007) at Guy and Mary Felt Manor. He was born Oct. 30, 1933 in Austin, a son of Bernard and Blanche Peters Cooney. On June 24, 1961 in St. Mark Catholic Church, Emporium, he married Louise Kamats Cooney, who survives. Mr. Cooney graduated from Austin High School. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Piper Aircraft Company where he worked for many years and then later worked for Schweizer Aircraft in Elmira, N.Y. for several years. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church, Driftwood, The Driftwood Senior Center, American Legion Olkosky- Jessop Post 194, Emporium. He was a Red Cross blood donor giving over nine gallons and was an active participant with the Emporium Food Bank. He was a very quiet observer with a compassionate heart. Surviving in addition to Louise Kamats Cooney are several nieces and nephews including: Randy and Dennis Cooney, Dick Logue, Brian Lovett, William Kamats, Derek Wolfanger, Beth Minnick and Molly McLaughlin. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bernard Cooney Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the St. Mark Catholic Church with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, as celebrant. A Military Service was accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail. Burial was in the Gilmore Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Cameron County Community Food Pantry, P.O.
