A. Edwin Welch A. Edwin Welch, 94, of Emporium, died Wednesday (July 25, 2007) in the Guy & Mary Felt Manor. Born May 18, 1913 in Lock Haven, he was the son of Paul H. and Ada Swisher Welch. On July 28, 1935 in West Milton he married Anna Deibler who died in 1976. On Feb. 24, 1977 in Emporium, he married Ruth Cassell Detweiler who died in 1998. Mr. Welch was a 1930 graduate of Lock Haven High School. He was employed as an appliance repairman by Shadles in Lock Haven and in 1942 went to work for Sylvania in Mill Hall. In 1956 he moved to Emporium where he was employed by GTE Sylvania as a Sr. Designer, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emporium, Emporium Men's Club and Sylvania's Quarter Century Club. Survivors include: one son, Allan E. Welch of Prattsville, NY; one daughter, Mrs. Roy (Janet) Richey of Manorville, NY; one stepson, Glenn Detweiler of Palatine, Ill.; eight grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Millicent Foster of Mission Hills, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Welch was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters. Friends will be received in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium, Sunday, July 29 from 2-6 p.m. at which time funeral services will be held with the Rev. Gary Atkinson, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Lamar Township, Clinton County, at noon on Monday, July 30, also with Rev. Atkinson officiating. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Emporium. |
