Woodsmen's Show celebrates heritage
The 56th annual Woodsmen's Show is in full swing at Cherry Springs State Park in central Potter County, continuing through Sunday.
Not only does this event celebrate the rich lumber history of Potter County, it also allows some of the top lumberjacks of the country to compete in events such as crosscut sawing, springboard, ax throwing and tree felling. They'll be in the spotlight Saturday at noon.
Exhibits, vendors and historical re-enactments will line the midway, as well as chainsaw carving competitions each day.
Saturday's schedule is as follows: 10:00 to 4:00, music at the stage area; 10:00, logging camp opens; 10:15 to 11:15, quick carve competition (chainsaw carvers have 45 minutes to complete one piece); noon, lumberjack competition; 1:30 to 2:30, masterpiece carving; 3:00, blacksmith and homestead logging demonstrations; 4:00, woodhick baseball.
Sunday: 9:00 to 10:30, masterpiece carving; 10:00 to 4:00, music on the stage; 11:45 to 12:45, quick carve competition; 1:00, horse pull competition; 2:00 to 3:00, masterpiece carving; 3:30, chainsaw awards.
