Missing teen located

Searchers located a missing teenager in Sweden Township early Friday morning following a search of several hours. State police from Denton Hill said the 12-year-old boy, who is autistic, left a residence along Ice Mine Road and was reported missing Thursday night.

About 50 volunteer emergency service personnel from Coudersport, Austin and Roulette assisted Sweden Township Police and the Coudersport Borough Police K- 9 unit. The boy was located, unharmed, walking along Watson Road, almost three miles from the home.

Survives fiery crash

A Phillipsburg man survived a fiery crash in southern Potter County early Thursday morning. State police said 52- year-old Keith Knepp was headed south when, for unknown reasons, his 2001 Dodge truck went off the road, hit a tree and burst into flames.

Knepp was able to crawl out of the wreckage and was taken by Kettle Creek Ambulance to a landing zone at the firehall in Cross Fork, where he was loaded onto a medical helicopter.

Counterfeit alert

State police from Denton Hill are warning area businesses and individuals that counterfeit bills are being passed in the area. Most recently, a counterfeit $1.00 bill was spent at a local business, but larger bills have also been used.

Police pointed out that most businesses scrutinize larger bills, so counterfeiters print and circulate smaller bogus bills. New technology is making it easier to print counterfeit currency, police said.

They recommended that anyone interested in learning more about how to detect counterfeit money consult the U.S. Secret Service website.

Stolen car found

A car which was stolen Friday night from the parking lot of the Friendly Inn on Main Street in Roulette was recovered Sunday morning in a ditch along the Brooklynside Road, near Port Allegany.

The 1988 white Mustang convertible is owned by Nancy Gular of Roulette and was taken between 9:45 and 11:00. The investigation is continuing.

Criminal mischief

State police from Denton Hill report a couple of criminal mischief incidents taking place over the past couple of weeks at the home of Georgia Ransom on Grover Hollow Road in Genesee Township.

Vandals threw a rock through a single-pane window in a garage and then, a few days later, threw a socket wrench extension through a doublepane window in the house.

Burglary probed

State police are probing a burglary taking place over the past three weeks at Paul's Auto Repair on the Genesee Mills Road in North Bingham.

Thieves cut two locks to enter the garage and made off with at least 25 front-wheel-drive radiators and car parts valued at a total of $2,200.

Underaged drinking

Nicholas T. Williams, 18, of Ulysses, will be charged with underaged drinking. Sate police say he consumed an alcoholic beverage on July 27 at 2:55 a.m.

Vehicle damaged

An unknown vehicle left a large scratch in a silver 2003 Honda Civic sedan owned by Jeffery A. Gavazzi of Weedville on July 28 in the parking lot of the Coudersport Golf Club between 4:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. State police from Denton Hill are investigating.

Careless driving

State police from Denton Hill report that Allison L. McReynolds, 22, of Norristown will be charged with careless driving after she wrecked her 2003 Pontiac Grand Am on Rt. 44 in Hebron Township on July 26 at 8:00 p.m. The driver and two young occupants, all of whom were wearing seat belts, were uninjured.

Stolen iPod

While attending a funeral with her family, Charleen Rosenberry, 48, of Coudersport had an Apple iPod and a socket tool set stolen from her home. The incident occurred between April 10 and 15.

Harassment charges

Joanna L. Wigfield, 34, and Cornell L. Smith, 41, both of Driftwood, are being charged with harassment after an altercation on Vine Street in Emporium at about 8:50 p.m. on July 25.

Car touble

James E. Singer, 45, faces simple assault charges after an argument with Bobbi Jo Singer, 41, over a vehicle. State police in Emporium alleged that the episode occurred at about 6:20 p.m. on July 27 on Vine Street in Emporium.
