Monica Swartwood
Monica M. Swartwood, 92, of Emporium, died Sunday (July 29, 2007) in the Guy and Mary Felt Manor.
Born Nov. 15, 1914 in Emporium, she was the daughter of Melvin and Bessie Berry Logan. On July 23, 1934 in Emporium, she married Robert W. Swartwood who died March 12, 1999.
A lifelong resident of Emporium, Mrs. Swartwood attended Cameron County schools and was retired from the Cameron County School District where she was employed in the cafeteria. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emporium and the Lena Luman Sunday School Class. She was also an avid bowler having won many trophies in the sport.
Mrs. Swartwood was the last surviving relative of her immediate family. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: her twin, Veronica Flick and another sister, Jeannie Eckl; and by one brother, Melvin H. Logan, Jr.
Friends were received in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium, Thursday, August 2 from 3-5 p.m. at which time funeral & committal services were held where the Rev. Gary Atkinson, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiated.
Burial will be in Newton Cemetery, Emporium. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Guy and Mary Felt Manor, East Fourth Street, Emporium.
