'Eagles' event a big success

Fifty players and volunteers participated in last week's second annual Eagles for Habitat Golf Tournament to benefit Potter County Habitat for Humanity.

Linksters had to slog through some puddles and endure soggy conditions at the Coudersport Golf Club from an overnight rain.

Winning team in the best ball, four-person scramble was Brian Smith, Dave Horn, Phil Minor and Bill Horn. Dave Horn, who is a member of the Westminster College men's golf team, also had the longest drive.

After the tournament, an awards ceremony was held during steak dinner provided by the Coudersport Golf Club.

Habitat for Humanity expressed appreciation to the many sponsors and other supporters, with special thanks to this year's Gold Sponsors: Northwest Savings Bank, Fortress Studios, and Versatile Systems Inc.

Potter County Habitat for Humanity is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat works in partnership with families in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing.

Applications are now being accepted for the next home scheduled for construction in Roulette in early 2008.

Potter County Habitat is also seeking volunteers for drywall finishing, painting, placing flooring and many administrative tasks for the house currently being built in Coudersport. For details, send an email to info@pottercountyhabitat.org.
