Mullens, McLean club champs

Preston Mullens successfully defended his men's championship at the Emporium Country Club.
Another young linkster, Brittany McLean, nailed down the women's championship.
Mullens, son of Scott and Brenda Mullens, will be a senior this fall at Clarion University. He has enjoyed a successful golfing season. Recently, he joined Justin Moose in winning the championship flight of Emporium's Member-Guest Tournament.
Those two helped Clarion's Golden Eagles take seventh place at this year's NCAA East Regional Championship, finishing 17th overall with a threeround score of 229.
Other winners in the club championship tournament were: first flight, Harry Jones; second flight, Terry Gabriel; third flight, Ed Uzdale; fourth flight, Jerry Kite.
McLean, the daughter of Rick and Mary Kay McLean, has been a standout golfer since her youth. She claimed the women's championship from the 2006 titlist, Meg Whiting. McLean was also a standout golfer at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, where she led the 2006 team with her scoring average of 94.0.

Also at Emporium Country Club, Marty Flaherty won the senior club championship. Kevin Connell was the junior club champion and Kal Logue took top honors for age 12 and under.
