Kinney breaks elbow Josh Kinney of Port Allegany, a major league baseball player with the St. Louis Cardinals, last week suffered a broken bone in his right elbow while playing catch. He underwent surgery on Friday to repair the fracture. Kinney, who was knocked out for the season due to ligament surgery in his right arm in March, had a screw inserted in the broken bone and will postpone his rehabilitation for up to eight weeks while the bone heals. Kinney, 28, said he was confident that the injury would not delay his return to the Cardinals for the 2008 season. "Everything else is good," Kinney said. Meanwhile, Port Allegany's Brian Stavisky returned to action this week as a member of the Oakland Athletics' Class AAA affiliate in Sacramento. Due to injury, this has been a lost season for the 27-yearold outfielder, who was a foursport star at Port Allegany High School. He has appeared in just 19 games after being promoted from Class AA Midland, Texas, to start the year. |
