Administrative Shuffle
Crumrine out as CCHS principal
By James Moate Endeavor News

Bill Floyd continues in his role as dean of students at Woodland Elementary School.
Cameron County High School Principal Myron (Mac) Crumrine resigned this week, continuing a series of changes in the district's administration that will continue well into the new school year.

Crumrine, who is moving to DuBois, will be replaced on an interim basis by Lynn Newcomer, assistant high school principal. He will receive an additional $65 per day for the added duties.

The district is advertising for a principal, with an application deadline of Oct. 29.

As reported earlier, Business Manager Carl Mitchell was recently installed as acting superintendent of schools while the district waits for Clyde Moate to receive his certification later this year. Mitchell is receiving an extra $300 per month while he serves in both capacities.

Moate, who was acting superintendent for a year, has been shifted to a new position created by the school board: interim assistant to the acting superintendent. In that role, his annual salary has been lowered from $93,000 to $87,000.

Moate is also principal of record at Woodland Elementary School, but most of his responsibilities there were assumed last March by guidance counselor Bill Floyd. Board members created another new position for Floyd: dean of students. He received a pay increase of $55 per day.

Floyd performs most of the elementary principal's traditional duties, with the exception of teacher evaluations, which are handled by Moate.

School board members have already announced their intention to hire Moate as school superintendent once he becomes eligible. That would allow Mitchell to return to his role as business manager only and would result in the elimination of their two temporary positions.
