Germania Old Home Day Sunday

Potter County 2007 Fair Queen Sadie Cole of Oswayo Valley will compete for Pa. State Fair Queen crown during January in Hershey. She was selected from among three finalists at this year's fair in Millport. A state queen will be crowned during the Pa. State Assn. of County Fairs Convention, scheduled Jan. 17- 20 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center.
Germania Old Home Day is scheduled for Sunday in that southern Potter County village.

Entertainment, food and legal beverages make for a lively gathering. One of the highlights is the drawing for cash prizes totaling more than $35,000. Raffle tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m., with the food and beverage booths opening at 11. The band Country Fever will perform from 11:30 to 3:30.

A horseshoe pitching contest, starting at 11:45, is open to the public. Cash prize drawings start at 1 p.m.

Doug Firestone will operate a lumber camp blacksmith shop from 1 to 4. The NASCAR Nextel Cup event will be shown on the big screen starting at 4:30.

Another crowd favorite will be the greased pig chases in women's and children's divisions, starting at 5:30.

County Fever returns to the stage for dancing from 7:30 to closing at 11 p.m. Germania is located along Pa. Rt. 144, about seven miles south of Galeton.
