News from the Pennsylvania State Police

On Aug. 30, Emporium Borough Police, assisted by Emporium-based state police and a drug task force from the Attorney General's Office arrested Faith Banks, Sarah Petitt, Britt Graham and a known juvenile, all of Emporium, for violation of state drug laws.

All of these individuals are jailed and awaiting trial. According to Borough Police Chief Rufus Jones, these arrests are part of a larger investigation and more are anticipated.

Thefts and burglaries

Sometime between Aug. 20 and Aug. 23, somebody broke into the Shinglehouse residence of Robert E. Rice and stole a green duffle bag, a nine foot bamboo fishing pole, a Coleman camp stove and a tackle box filled with fishing lures.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact the Pa. State Police at Denton Hill, 274-8690.

An unknown person last week stole 50 gallons of gas from the Pa. Game Commission in Coudersport, using a rubber fuel line that was cut from the tank to siphon the gas. Total damage is estimated at $280.

Donations being collected to rebuild a Model T Ford at the Pa. Lumber Museum in Potter County were stolen from a jar located in the lobby last Sunday.

Sometime between Aug. 18 and Aug. 27, someone forced open a window at the Cameron County Fairgrounds, stole a five-gallon can of gas and fled. Total damages and losses are estimated a $55.

State police are investigating a series of thefts occurring between November 2006 and July 2007. Somebody has been stealing packages out of the mailbox belonging to Coudersport resident John C. Allen.

Anyone with information should contact the U. S. Postal Inspection Service at 1-888- 876-2455.

A camp owned by Gerald Ritchie of Bethel was broken into sometime between Aug. 23 and Aug. 25. Police are trying to determine if anything was stolen.

Emporium resident Dorothy Hastings was victimized last Friday, as someone entered her home and stole several undisclosed items.

Bad checks

Five instances of bad checks have been reported by Reed's Market in the village of Genesee. The offenses occurred between January 2006 and June 2007.

State police from Coudersport said the bad checks were written by residents of Wellsville, N.Y., Whitesville, N.Y. and Genesee. They totaled between $229 and $22.

Vehicle wrecks

On Monday while driving her 1999 Jeep Cherokee along Meeker Hollow Road in Pike Township, Potter County, Kimberly J. Malaczewski, of Galeton, swerved to miss a deer, lost control of the vehicle and hit a bank, causing it to roll over.

In the process, her passenger, Katherine Fischner of Galeton, was thrown into the back seat suffering major injuries. Fischner was flown by medical helicopter to Robert Packer Memorial Hospital in Sayre. Malaczewski was found to driving under the influence of alcohol.

An unknown vehicle made an an apparent U-turn and struck two mailboxes owned by Patricia J. Shatto and Jean A. Wog, of Galeton on Aug. 22. The vehicle then took off in an unknown direction.

Criminal mischief

An unknown person did $250 worth of damage to a window and screen of a seasonal residence in the Genesee Township owned by Timothy J. Darrenkamp of Mountville, sometime between Aug. 17 and Aug. 21.

Somebody placed two piles of broken glass in the driveway of Coudersport resident Phillip J. Urban on Aug. 22 which caused about $110 worth of damage to the right front tire of his truck. Culprits then fled the scene.

An unknown vehicle caused apparent malicious damage to the lawn of a Cameron County residence owned by George Brown. Leads are being pursued.

Someone entered the Genesee residence of Suzanne Z. Martin and caused a hanging plant basket to fall to the ground.

Harassment

On Tuesday, an altercation between Pete L. Dynda and Jonell R. Judlin-Dynda, both of Austin, resulted in multiple charges against the latter.

Pa. State Police from Denton Hill cited her with harassment and disorderly conduct. Mr. Dynda claimed his estranged wife struck him in the face, got into a vehicle, rammed an ATV in the front yard several times and drove off.

Rodney E. Aikey and Rodney A. Mesler, both of Shinglehouse, are being charged with summary harassment charges after an altercation that occurred Wednesday.

Police at Denton Hill said Aikey was moving a gate and allegedly trespassing on Mesler's property.

Troopers from Denton Hill are investigating an incident that occurred late last Sunday when a known female left a threatening and harassing call on the answering machine of Roulette resident Earl E. Meacham's cell phone.

Paraphernalia

Kyle A. Heter of Port Allegany is being charged with possesion of drug paraphernalia.

Police report than an alleged marijuana pipe was found on his person on Monday.
