Elk Regional Health System is creating a Serenity Garden near the Community Nurses and Rehabilitation Facility in St. Marys. Its focal point is a labyrinth, which is a walking path used in medical facilities to lower blood pressure, reduce stress, and encourage calmness. The garden will also include plants, brickpaved walkways, seating, and a water element. Projected opening date is May 2008. An open house will be held at the site on Sept. 19 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Shown on a recent tour of the site are (from left) Pat Martin, RN; Paulette Schreiber, CRNP; Gwen Auman, ERHS fund developer; and Ann Bauer, Community Nurses.
