SEVERAL DRUG ARRESTS MADE Several more local residents are facing drug charges as the result of a task force crackdown that continues in Cameron and Elk counties. Arrested last Thursday for possession of prescription drugs with intent to sell were David R. Pifer, 23, and Christine M. Young, 26, both of Emporium. On Saturday, Michael E. Hallowell, 38, also of Emporium, was arrested on similar charges. Most recently, on Wednesday, Dana L. Grovanz, 28, was cited for communication/facilitation of drug-related information. Those arrests, along with four others reported in last week's edition of Endeavor News, resulted from a com- bined effort of Emporium Borough Police, Pa. State Police from the Emporium barracks and a regional drug task force organized by the State Attorney General. "There are many more arrests to come," said Emporium Police Chief Rufus Jones. Jones cited the work of confidential informants in amassing evidence in the drug cases. Also, Emporium Borough Police on Sunday arrested Julie E. Johnson, of Emporium, on a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge that was not part of the task force effort. |
