911 ceremony planned in Emporium Six years have passed since terrorists hijacked four airliners to attack America. As a show of support for the resultant "war on terror," and in memory of the victims of Sept. 11, 2001, Cameron County will pause on Tuesday morning for a community memorial service on North Broad Street in Emporium. American Legion Post 194 is organizing the 10 a.m. service. Those who plan to attend are asked to bring a candle to be lit during a luminary ceremony to remember the victims of the 9/11 attacks, including the volunteer firefighters and police who lost their lives in the aftermath. Anyone interested in speaking should contact Max Narby at 486-1014. Post 194 extends a speaking invitation to anyone involved in emergency response, public safety, law enforcement or military activity, as well as anyone whose life was personally touched by the 9/11 tragedies. |
