Irene Lyon

Irene B. Lyon, 94, of Bryan Hill Road, Emporium, died at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007.

She was born April 14, 1913 in Emporium, a daughter of Edward and Ella Mae Beldin Uber. On Dec. 11, 1932 on Moore Hill she married William D. Lyon. who died on Dec. 2, 1966.

Years ago, Mrs. Lyon had worked at Sylvania and the Candy Company in Emporium and also at the Hollaway Tool & Die Co. in Beechwood. She was a member of the Moore Hill Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Church in Emporium.

Surviving are four sons: Alvin (Joan) Lyon, Emporium; Robert (Veronica) Lyon, Emporium, William (Catherine) Lyon, Bryan Hill, and John (Shirley) Lyon, Corr; a daughter, Linda Woods and George Cleaveland, Emporium; 13 grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; two brothers, James "Pete" (Ann) Uber, Jamestown, N.Y., and Robert Uber, Emporium, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Ella Mae Beldon Uber; her husband; six sisters, Ollie Nelson, Jessie Kriner, Ethel Bly, Ora Lewis, Edith Cato and June Sarick and two brothers, Claude and Hugh Uber.

Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church in Emporium on Sept. 1 with the Rev. Gary Atkinson and the Rev. James Eastman, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Barnett Funeral Home. Burial was in Moore Hill Cemetery, Shippen Township.
