Raider girls off to a 2-0 start The Red Raiders edged a talented Smethport team, 28-27, and rolled over Port Allegany, 37 1/2 to 17 1/2 in their season debut at the Emporium Country Club. "We played right after a rain- storm and the conditions weren't great," said Cameron County coach Pat Lewis. "For the first match, I thought the girls played an exceptionally good, competitive match." The Raiders carried back-toback undefeated regular season record into the opener and barely kept their streak alive. Jordan Thompson, co-MVP of the Penn-York League, led the hosts with a medal round of 46. Bethany Dunsmore came through with a 52. Other Cameron County scorers were Whitney Lewis (60), Brittany Lundberg (63) and Bre Dunsmore (64). Smethport was led by April Alfieri (51). |
