Raiders golfers top Falcons

Cameron County remained undefeated in Penn-York Girls' Golf League competition Tuesday as the league's returning co-MVPs squared off in Emporium.

The Red Raiders, who haven't lost a Penn-York match since 2004, emerged with a 31- 24 win, despite a solid 44 round from Coudersport's Lindsey Francis. Jordan Thompson led the hosts with a 49, one stroke head of teammate Whitney Lewis, whose 50 was a career best. Falcon Sarah Bunch shot a 48. Francis and Thompson shared league MVP honors last season.

"Our girls played well top to bottom and that is what pulled the match through," said coach Pat Lewis of his Cameron County squad. Backing Thompson and Lewis were Brittany Lundberg (58), Bethany Dunsmore (59) and Bre Dunsmore (62).

Coudersport was coming off a 37-18 victory over the Port Allegany on Monday. Francis (46) was the medalist, while Bunch had a personal best 48. They were aided by Tori Brown (57), Catherine Keeney (63) and Emilee Bertrand (64).
