Raiders teams sweep Cameron County High School made a clean sweep of three scholastic sports events Thursday night. In boys' golf, the Red Raiders notched a big win over previously unbeaten Oswayo Valley, 33-22, to improve to 7-2 overall and 7-1 in Penn-York League play. Grant Vassallo came through with a 41 to edge Josh Strahl for medalist honors. Jon Lundberg was right behind with a 43. Other Raider scorers were Vince Brown (48), Dom Manginell (50) and Rich Farren (52). In girls' golf, the Red Raiders beat Bradford 39-16 to improve their record to 4-0. Cameron County took the top four spots. Jordan Thompson was medalist with a score of 53 and Whitney Lewis followed with a 58. Bethany Dunsmore and Brittany Lundberg both had 60s. Meanwhile, the junior high football team improved to 2-0 with a 26-6 win over Smethport. Among the highlights was Jason Blose's 70- yard interception return for a touchdown. Blose also hit Vince Summers on an option pass for an 11-yard TD play and scored on a three-yard run. Quarterback Joe Holjencin also ran for a touchdown. |
