In a community heavily populated and often visited by hunters, what could be more appropriate than a "Gun Bash?"
At the suggestion of volunteer firefighter Brian Kite, Emporium Volunteer Fire Dept. launched what is expected to become an annual event last weekend.
Nearly all of the 500 advance tickets were sold. Drawings were held throughout the day to award door prizes and guns.
Gun winners were: Brian Lathrop, Gary Crosby (twice), Jean Tesauro, Heidi Love, Patty Becquet, Deb Cressley, Brian Crumrine, Sheree Botera, Mark Shelander, Laura Narby, Skeeter Chmelar and Randy Frey (grand prize).
Elk County Ammo and Arms set up a big display. Other sponsors included Zippo/Case, Wal-Mart, Cabella's, L&M Lumber, Cooney's Mountain Mustard, Fastenal, Caldwell Corporation, EVFD Auxiliary, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Cameron County Fair Association, South Park Lumber and Glenwood Beer Distributor/East End Beverage.
