Songwriters send-off
Folk, blues artists join Herbstritt at Ski Denton Lodge

Deb Callahan and her band come to Potter County on Oct. 6 on the tail end of a national tour. They'll soon return to the studio to finish work on their third CD. Also performing will be Brent Hopper and Brittany Riley, along with Coudersport's Larry Herbstritt.
National recording artists Brent Hopper and Brittany Riley, as well as the Deb Callahan Blues Band, are coming to Potter County next month.

They'll be teaming with Coudersport musician Larry Herbstritt and other locals on Oct. 6 for a rousing sendoff to this year's Songwriters Roundtable series at the Ski Denton lodge. After a 5 p.m. dinner, music gets underway at 7 p.m. and concludes at around 10.

Songwriters Roundtable is a monthly show featuring music in a coffeehouse-style setting. Tickets are $10, or $5.00 for children under high school age.

A critically acclaimed CD released by Brent Hopper and Brittany Riley (brenthopper.com) last year, "Back to My Roots," has received generous national airplay. The duo mixes bluegrass, reggae, country, blues, and other old-time music influences with acoustic instrumensts and tight vocal harmony.

Deb Callahan Blues (debcallahanband.com) will wrap up a multi-state tour in October and return to the studio to patch together the pieces of its third record, due for release next year.

Philadelphian Callahan is sometimes referred to as "Janis Joplin without the rasp," mixing blues with occasional folk, rock and gospel selections. She is backed by talented instrumentalists who lead her along a path of diversity and seamless crossover between musical genres.

Larry Herbstritt's (larryherbstritt.com) credentials as a songwriter include three number one hits on the pop and country charts, as well as numerous movie scores and television soundtracks. His live performances as a singer and guitarist are a blend of sincerity, energy and musical joy. He'll open the show at 7 p.m.

Songwriters Roundtable hosts Steve Quelet and Eppie Bailey will also perform. For more information on the series: songwritersroundtable.com.
