Domestic violence vigil planned October 15 The public is encouraged to make a statement against domestic violence during a candlelight vigil to be held Monday, Oct. 15, at the courthouse square gazebo in Coudersport, starting at 7 p.m. It's sponsored by A Way Out, the Coudersport-based organization that provides shelter, counseling and advocacy for victims if domestic violence and sexual abuse. Two local clergy members will speak on the theme, "Our Faith Communities and Domestic Violence." They are Pastor Tom Shatto, Sweden Valley Faith United Methodist Church, and Father Elaine Silverstrim, Christ and All Saints Episcopal Churches. An open house will follow the program at the office of A Way Out on East Third Street. |
