Work continues on enhanced 911

Work continues on Potter County's "enhanced 911" emergency response system.

Once it's complete, the system will improve emergency response by automatically providing location, telephone number, and occupant information whenever 911 is dialed.

Since April, field crews have been performing the fieldwork required to develop the accurate mapping needed to support E911. All field vehicles are identified with "911 County Survey" signs.

The inventories will include road names and lengths; driveways; addresses; photos of each addressed or addressable structure; fire hydrants; cell towers and utility substations, public buildings and other features.

Work is being accomplished in stages over the next few months. Local governments and utilities are assisting.
