There appears to be no stopping Cameron County now.
The Red Raiders took another step toward an Allegheny Mountain Football League North Division crown last week, rolling up a gawdy 53 first-half points on their way to a 59-22 shellacking of a feckless Curwensville squad.
It was an interesting game - for about two minutes.
After the Raiders scored on Abram Zoschg's short run and a conversion pass from Jordan Crane to Mike Malizia, visiting Curwensville had an immediate reply.
Quarterback David Kalgren hit Jesse Hoover with a 49-yard TD pass, then ran for the PAT, tying the score 8-8.
From that point forward, the Golden Tide was beached.
Crane hit Malizia for a 63- yard touchdown down the right sideline. Moments later, Raider lineman Shawn Ellenberger pulled down a tipped pass in Curwensville territory. Zoschg and Cameron Clingan picked up 18 yards on two runs, before Crane hit a wide open Zoschg deep in the end zone from 15 yards out.

After a Curwensville punt, Taylor Songer embarked on a 70-yard run for an apparent touchdown, but it was called back on a penalty. Soon, however, Charlie Holjencin sprinted through a huge hole and scored from 12 yards away.
Another Tide punt set up Cameron County's steady 68- yard drive, ending on Clingan's 13-yard TD run for a 34-8 lead.
Adding insult to injury, Raider Andy Lippert intercepted a Kalgren pass and returned it 35 yards for six more points.
Later in the half, Songer embarked on another long run covering 67 yards, with no penalty flags flying, making the score 47-8. Just before the intermission, Zoschg scored his third touchdown on a 13-yard run.
The second half passed quickly with the mercy rule in effect. Against the Raider reserves, Sam Gardner scored on a 35-yard run and Jed Gelsick went in from 11 yards out. Brett Malize's one-yard TD run capped a long Cameron County drive late in the game.
Coach Tony Defilippi was pleased with his squad's performance.
"Our offensive and defensive lines played extremely well," said the third-year head coach. "Everyone played well and I thought Taylor Songer looked real strong coming off the bench."
The Raiders' game against Otto-Eldred scheduled for Friday night has been forfeited by the Terrors due to lack of players. Cameron County returns to action at home against Port Allegany on Friday, Oct. 5 (7 p.m.).
