Coudersport remains perfect in volleyball

Coach Greg Stone's Coudersport Falcons entered the season with experience and confidence.

So it's no surprise that they're one of the Northern Tier League powers. Coudy knocked off Northern Potter in three straight Thursday night to improve to 7-0, including a 6- 0 NTL mark.

Returning league MVP Jessica Wilson drilled 18 kills to go with four blocks, eight points and four aces, leading the Falcons to a 25-17, 25-15 and 25-16 triumph.

Also for Coudersport, Megan Hau had eight kills and four blocks to go with 11 points (four aces). Karli Duffee -- the league's assists leader -- dished out 25 more and tallied 10 service points.

In other action Thursday, Austin strung out visiting Smethport to four games before falling. The Panthers took game two, 25-21, but dropped the next two. Emily Wambaugh led Austin with eight kills, seven blocks and 10 points. Hilary Gordnier had seven kills, three digs and five points. Kelsey Valenti contributed four digs, six kills and six points.

Cameron County dropped a three-game set to Oswayo Valley, despite 13 digs from Danika Grom. Port Allegany outlasted Otto-Eldred in four games.

On Tuesday, Coudersport won an intense five-game match at Port Allegany, where former Falcon coach Sharon Daniels had her Gators prepared. Wilson was all over the floor with 36 digs, 28 kills and 14 points. Duffee notched a whopping 41 assists with three blocks.

Austin beat Cameron County in four. Wambaugh had 20 points and four kills, while Casey Boucher added 12 service points for the Panthers. Whitney Crosby chipped in with 10 assists and eight kills. Cameron County got 17 digs and eight points from Brandi Lyon.
