Girls' golfers head to D9 tourney

Senior Lindsey Francis leads the Coudersport High School girls' golf team into Monday's PIAA District 9 Tournament.

Francis, returning Penn-York League co-MVP, was the medalist in the Falcons' 27-27 tie against Smethport on the back nine of the Coudersport Golf Club on Monday.

Coach Gary Francis said his team (4-3-1) caught a break when Smethport arrived shorthanded.

Still, the Falcons needed a strong effort from underclassman Hannah Fink (53) and other golfers to pull out the tie. Catherine Keeney (56), Emilee Bertrand (61) and Sarah Bunch (65) rounded out the Falcon scorers. April Alfieri shot a solid 48 for the Hubbers.
