'Books Unlimited' dinner Nov. 1

Organizers of Coudersport Public Library's "Books Unlimited" dinner have planned exciting changes for the annual fund-raiser this year.

It will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Coudersport Consistory.

An auction will get underway at 7 p.m. Tickets, available from library trustees, committee members or at the library, are $25.

Library trustee Krista Batterson says the committee has replaced the traditional sitdown dinner with an extended hors d'oeuvres and dessert menu in the Consistory ballroom. Hot and cold items will be available, including scallops, shrimp, chicken, meatballs, stuffed mushrooms and other assorted foods.

Potential bidders will have an opportunity to look over the vast array of items donated by individuals, businesses and organizations, to be awarded to the highest bidders.

Adding to the atmosphere will be live string music, provided by the Pearl Quartet.

Books Unlimited is the library's biggest single fundraising event. Contributions of items for the fund-raiser are being sought. These may be gift certificates, arts and crafts, antiques, collectibles or any useable modern merchandise.

Donations of money or items for the event can be left at the library. Arrangements for pickup of items can be made calling the library at 274-9382.

Items are requested by Oct. 19 so they can be listed in the program. For more information, contact the Coudersport Public Library.
