Practical nursing class starting

Registration deadline is Nov. 1 for a practical nursing course to be held soon in the local area.

Practical nursing education prepares a student to provide patient care under the direction of a licensed professional nurse, licensed physician or a licensed dentist.

Courses are being offered through an affiliation with the North Campus of the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Wellsboro.

Graduates will be eligible to take the practical nursing examination for licensure in Pennsylvania and will be prepared to seek employment in settings such as nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities, physician offices and clinics, and home care agencies.

Licensed graduates of this program are eligible to apply for advanced placement in Penn College's Associate Degree Nursing (RN) Program. The program is scheduled over the course of one year with classes and clinical four days per week.

Affiliations with Laurel Health System allow clinical experiences at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, the Green Home, and other local facilities.

Affiliations with Charles Cole Memorial Hospital and Sweden Valley Manor allow clinical experiences in Coudersport.
