FALLING LEAVES' FESTIVAL UNDERWAY Coudersport's seventh annual Falling Leaves Festival is underway. The downtown area is dressed in its autumn motif, complete with scarecrows on the lampposts. Saturday's schedule is chock full. Vendors are set up at the courthouse square from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. with crafts, homemade goods, furniture and plenty of food. A bounce house will be open from 9 to 5. Antique and classic cars will be on display from 9 to 12:30, followed by judging. The Farmers' Market will be in operation on on East Second Street. It features home-grown fruit and vegetables, fresh baked goods and hand-crafted items. Arlington Express will perform at the gazebo from 11 a.m. to noon. Distinguished scholar, speaker and futurist August Jaccaci shares his wisdom for the future by calling upon a famous American from the past -- Thomas Jefferson. In full costume, Jaccaci will appear at the square at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The parade at 1 p.m. will include the homecoming queen and her court, high school bands, classic and antique cars, emergency service vehicles and other units. The band RSVP performs from the gazebo from 2:30 to 4:30, followed by karaoke contests for adults and children from 5:00 to 7:30. Jimmy and the Tropics will entertain during a dinner/dance at the Parish Center from 7:30 to 12:30. Social hour is at 6:30. A '50s dance contest will be held during the evening. Coudersport High School Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday night at the school gymnasium. Dozens of area residents are holding yard sales to take advantage of the large number of people expected to be circulating over the weekend. |
