This little guy was left on his own for a day, but Jane Hilfiger was willing to provide day care service. "Mama must have told little Bambi to stay in the deep grass next to my house, but he just had to get up and check things out," said Hilfiger, who lives in Potter County's Harrison Township. "He roamed around our yard and I spent most of my day herding him away from Rt. 49, not wanting him to get hit by a car." The mother tried to return, but continued to be spooked away by traffic. "Finally, at about dusk, he went back to the spot where Mama left him, then laid down," Jane said. "In the morning, Mama and Bambi were gone. At least I have pictures to remember him by."
