Creek cleaning will wait

Efforts to form a corps of citizen volunteers to hack some of the vegetation that has built up in Emporium's creeks has been put off until spring, according to Borough Councilman Max Narby.

Goal is to increase water flow and reduce the threat of flooding by reducing foliage growth, in accordance with Pa. Dept. of Environmental Protection regulations.

Narby earlier this year tried to form a group of volunteers, with limited success. Citizens, civic groups, non-profit organizations or anyone else interested in helping should contact Emporium Borough at 486- 8245 or Max Narby at 486- 1014.
