Stanley Tubbs

Stanley C. Tubbs, 85, of Gaines, died Monday (Oct. 8, 2007) in Corning (N.Y.) Hospital.

Born July 25, 1922, in Sunderlinville, he was a son of John R. and Nora Belle Glover Tubbs. On Dec. 15, 1945, in Middlebury Center, he married Dorothy Bradley, who died Sept. 4, 1999.

He worked at the Elkland Tannery and for Allegany Mountain Construction. He also was a self-employed carpenter.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda Sharp of Wellsboro; two sons, Allan S. Tubbs of Campbell, N.Y. and John D. Tubbs of Galeton; two sisters, Genevieve Flynn of Osceola and Kathryn Hillyard of Ulysses; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents; two infant children, David and Connie; three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at the Olney Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joseph Dougherty officiating. Burial was in Ulysses Cemetery.
