Volleyball showdown Tuesday in Shinglehouse

Coudersport puts its undefeated high school volleyball record on the line Tuesday night with a showdown at Shinglehouse against once-beaten Oswayo Valley.

"They're a tough team," Falcon coach Greg Stone said. "We know we're going to be in for a battle."

His squad boosted its record to 11-0, including a 10-0 Northern Tier League mark, with a 3-0 sweep of Cameron County Thursday night. Jessica Wilson had 12 kills, 16 digs and four blocks. Karli Duffee dished out 26 assists, with 11 points (3 aces). Brittany had eight points, seven digs and a kill.

For Cameron County, Danika Grom had 15 digs while Lauren Cook recorded five assists, two kills and five points.

On Tuesday, Wilson fired 13 kills to go with 25 digs and nine points in a 3-0 win over Smethport. Duffee had 21 assists and 11 points. Sabrina Hershey recorded 18 digs and nine point. Megan Hau had 10 points with a pair of aces.

In other Tuesday matches, Cameron County stuck close to Otto-Eldred in all three games, but still fell 3-0. Tasha Smith led the Red Raiders with 12 digs, two kills and 13 points. Grom added 25 digs. Lacey Feldbauer tallied five points with a pair of aces and had four kills.

Austin dropped a 3-0 decision to Port Allegany despite Whitney Crosby's eight kills and four assists. Jessica Miller chipped in with eight assists.

League standings

Coudersport 10-0, Oswayo Valley 9-1, Port Allegany 5-5, Otto- Eldred 5-5, Northern Potter 4-5, Smethport 4-6, Austin 3-6, Cameron County 0-10.
