Railroad cracking down
State police asked to thwart right-of-way trespassers

Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad is cracking down on trespassing along its property -- formerly Norfolk Southern rail line -- along Route 155 in Cameron and McKean counties.

Railroad officials have asked the Pa. State Police at Emporium and Lantz Corners to strictly enforce trespassing laws.

That means hunters, trappers and anglers, as well as all others, will no longer be permitted the use of any railroad property without consequence, according to police.

"Our intention is to provide our employees and customers a safe work environment as well as providing safety for the general public," said WNYP Railroad spokesman T. R. Walsh. "Our company has just acquired the railroad property in question and we are working to comply with the proper posting of the railroad to be in conformity with the law."

Anyone that would like additional information about trespassing or the boundaries of the railroad's property should contact Walsh at (716) 665-5995.
