Halloween activities planned Emporium Borough has set its annual trick or treating for Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Residents who wish to encourage trick-or-treaters should switch on their porchlights. Motorists are advised to be on the lookout for the youngsters in costume as they scurry around town, not always mindful of traffic. Also on Saturday, First Baptist Church on North Broad Street in Emporium will hold its annual "Light the Night" event during the same hours, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a bounce house, train ride, juggler, puppet show, skateboard demonstration, carnival-style games, treat bags and more. The public is invited. All events are free. Austin Halloween plans A parade and party at the school on Tuesday night, followed by traditional trick or treating on Wednesday, will highlight this year's Halloween activities in Austin. Austin Area High School Class of 2008 will hold "Halloween Mania" Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the gym. In addition to a parade, class members and supporters will have food, games and other fun. Anyone wishing to set up a fund-raising booth should contact Ali Valenti at 647-8327 or Betsy Fowler at 647-8626. Trick or treating will take place on Halloween from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. Those who want to accommodate treat-seekers should put on their porch lights. Parents are asked to emphasize safety to their children and motorists are advised to exercise special caution during those hours. |
