Giannotti leads Falcon runners

Coudersport sophomore Emily Giannotti hopes to earn a return trip to the PIAA Cross Country Championships when she leads the Falcons into the District 9 Meet at Ridgway on Saturday.

Giannotti sat out last week's Northern Tier League Meet in Smethport due to illness, but is expected to return in fine form on Saturday.

Oswayo Valley's boys and Smethport's girls won the league championships.

Coudersport freshman Brielle Whitman placed eighth. Teammate Allyson Elliott placed ninth. Kristy Kamper and Sarah Hutcheson were also in the top 20. Grant Gerner was the top finisher from Coudersport, finishing 11th overall. Kyle Franklin and Chris Podwoski were in the top 30.

Junior high competition was also held. Coudersport's Marina Snyder closed out an impressive cross country debut with a third-place finish.
