Cameron County warmed up for the tougher high school football challenges to come with a lopsided laugher at Johnsonburg last weekend.
On Friday, the Red Raiders travel to Kane in a clash of two 9-0 teams battling for the Allegheny Mountain League championship. Opening kickoff is at 7 p.m.
Next weekend, coach Tony Defilippi's boys have a home game as they enter the PIAA District 9 playoffs with high hopes of capturing the district title and advancing into the state playoffs.
Cameron Clingan ran for 213 yards and three touchdowns on just 12 carries in last Friday's 57-16 rout at Johnsonburg (1- 8). The Raiders exploded for a 50-0 lead at halftime.
Quarterback Jordan Crane was efficient in operating the offense, hitting three of five passes -- two of them for touchdowns -- and running for 26 yards, including a touchdown. Crane also made a rare start on defense and intercepted three passes.
Abram Zoschg added nine carries for 73 yards and a touchdown, and one catch for 36 yards. He also had an interception.
Clingan sprinted 74 yards for a touchdown and ran for the two-point conversion to start the scoring.
Zoschg scored on 25-yard run. Charlie Holjencin followed with a 30-yard breakaway and Clingan carried for the PAT to make it 22-0. Clingan cashed in again early in the second quarter with a 29- yard TD run.
Then Crane hit Mike Malizia with a 16-yard touchdown pass. Clingan scored his third TD on a 66-yard scamper. A two-yard touchdown pass from Crane to Sean McManigle completed the first half scoring.
Crane scored on a quarterback keeper shortly after halftime.
Cameron County had 503 yards of offense, despite sending its starters to the bench after just one possession in the second half.
