SLED DOG RACES HERE TO STAY!
Sinnemahoning
State Park has a keeper. Turnout of racers and spectators at last weekend's
second annual Canadian American Sledders "Run with the Big Dogs" convinced
Sinnemahoning State Park officials that the event should become a November
fixture at the park.
Among this year's competitors was a teenager from Siberia and more than two dozen racers from the U.S. and Canada.
Most of the dogs were part Malamute or Siberian Husky; there were also hound and Collie mixes.
Attendance for the two-day event was about 400, higher than the inaugural races in 2006.
Both Sinnemahoning State Park Manager Lisa Bainey and
Canadian- American
Sledders' Vice President Steve Anharrah termed the event a success and confirmed plans to build on it in 2008.
