Gerner in state competition
Will vie for Pa. Outstanding Young Woman

Coudersport High School senior Melissa Gerner is one of 18 finalists for the title of Pennsylvania Outstanding Young Woman.

The daughter of Paul and Nancy Gerner, Melissa will travel to Kutztown on Saturday, Nov. 24, to compete for the statewide title and a scholarship award.

Candidates are judged on talent, interview, scholarship, physical well-being, presence and presentation. The talent portion is a two-minute performance judged on ability and stage

presence.

Finalists are spending a week in Reading, where they will assist with Habitats for Humanity, visit a senior center and meet with elementary school students.
