Bryce's Christmas wish to be presented
Based on a true story, "Bryce's Christmas Wish" will be presented Dec. 1 on the Cameron County High School stage starting at 7 p.m. Written by Sarah Moate and Brittney Gennocro to fulfill their senior project obligation, the play has been in the making since mid-September. Sarah and Brittany are directing and acting in the play as well.
"It was really fun," Sarah said. "It was nice getting to know all the new people." By new people, she means the members of the Drama Club. Unlike Brittany, this was the first time that she worked with the young thespians. Though it wasn't a Drama Club function, most of the cast consisted of its members.
As the plot is laid out, the audience is introduced to Bryce, a good-hearted boy who wants his greedy sister to change her selfish ways. Throuhout the night, neighbors stop by and show their Christmas spirit in different ways.
"It makes you think differently about things," Brittany said. "The play makes you appreciate what you have a little more."
Proceeds from the play will benefit a local charity which provides Christmas gifts for underprivileged children.
"It took a lot of hard work and a lot of time to make this play come to life," Sarah said. "It would really be great to see a lot of people come support the community and give some needy children a better Christmas."
Other cast members include Caitlin Miller, Nick Cressley, Mike Jones, Michael Summerson, Bailey Tucker, Jordan Dempsey, Anastacia Lapolt, Kiley Lewis, Billy Kane, Tyler Burfield, Steven Songer and Preston Gennocro.
Sarah and Brittany are also on the high school basketball cheerleading squad.
