Charged with DUI

A Coudersport woman is being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a collision last Friday on Route 6, west of the Coudersport business district.

State police at Denton Hill said Becky Sue Olson turned her westbound Chevy Lumina into a parking lot in front of an eastbound Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Emily Shaffer of Creekside.

Neither driver was injured. Police suspected that Olson was intoxicated and took her for tests that confirmed their suspicions.

Firefighter injured

A volunteer fireman from Galeton was hurt while he was responding to a call Tuesday evening. Gary Ruef Sr. was driving a Ford pickup that struck a deer on the Phoenix Road in Hector Township.

Ruef was taken by Galeton Ambulance to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital in Wellsboro.

Minor injuries

A Roulette woman escaped with minor injuries after her van slid out of control on the West Branch of Fishing Creek, near Roulette.

Troopers said Jessica Wiley was headed south when her Ford Aerostar slid off the road, crossed to the other side of the road, rotated 90 degrees, traveled off the road through grassy area and struck a telephone pole.

Disorderly conduct

Police have charged a Genesee man with disorderly conduct for an incident allegedly taking place Friday night in Genesee Township.

Dustin Kio, 21, was cited for violent behavior taking place on Grover Hollow Road. Police said Kio damaged property and fired a shotgun round into the air.

Money stolen from car

Someone entered a car owned by Shari Haskins of Roulette Thursday night or Friday morning while it was parked at her home on Creekside Drive.

About $400 was stolen from a purse she had left on the passenger side floor.

Caught in the act A couple of suspected thieves were caught in the act Saturday night in Ulysses.

State police claim 20-yearold Jerry Stoltzfus of Whitesville, N.Y., and 35-yearold Richard Davis Jr. of Knoxville forced their way into a secure area at Hamilton's Car Wash and Laundromat on North Street.

Stoltzfus allegedly kept watch outside while Davis tried to break open a coin machine. Owner Henry Hamilton arrived while the pair was on the scene.

Troopers report that Davis fled on foot. Hamilton held Stoltzfus until police arrived. Davis was later apprehended at his home.

Hit and run

A hit-and-run driver damaged a car in Roulette last Thursday afternoon.

The 2007 Toyota Camry owned by Donald L. Drabert was parked in a lot next to New You Tanning & Styling Salon. Damage was estimated at $2,500.

Cited for DUI

State police from Denton Hill have charged a Roulette man with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police said they stopped 33- year-old John D. Rowe for committing a traffic violation and determined he was intoxicated.

Burglar caught on tape

State police from Denton Hill are seeking the identity of a thief who broke into the IGA grocery store in Shinglehouse early Saturday morning.

Police say the young man pried open a side door and made off with 36 cartons of Marlboro cigarettes valued at $1,500, as well as $50 in change. Security cameras captured his image and police have distributed photos. Damage was estimated at $50.
