'Christmas in the Wilds' next weekend Plans are falling into place for the Cameron County "Christmas in the Wilds," with activities scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 8. Organizers from the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce hope to increase community involvement with the holiday activities. A "Breakfast with Santa" will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the firehall. Christmas Corner drawing will be held at noon at the corner of Fourth and Broad street. Three burgeoning gift baskets will be presented, compliments of local Chamber of Commerce affiliates. Santa's Christmas Parade will step off at noon, featuring the Cameron County High School Marching Band. Vendors will be set up at the firehall, starting at 1 p.m. Original plans called for sledding on Broad Street and a snow-sculpting contest, but weather conditions may not allow those events to be held. A holiday lighting contest is planned. This will be highlighted by the townwide "lightup night" on Dec 8. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. A "Chamber Mixer" is planned, starting with a social hour at 6 p.m. Local businesses are encouraged to have sales, open houses and extended hours in conjunction with Christmas in the Wilds. |
